PhD:

Sociology (University of Kent – due to submit May 2010)

Working title: Citizen Journalism and Terrorism: A Case Study of 7/7

My PhD concerns a sociological analysis of the relationship between Citizen Journalism & Terrorism in the 21st Century and is being supervised by Professor Frank Furedi. The focus of my research lies with the development of Citizen Journalism and its wider social implications within the reporting of terrorism.

Research:

Whilst completing my PhD I am also working as a research associate to Professor Frank Furedi on a project titled: Changing Perceptions of Security and Interventions, the project is a collaborative project in the 7th EU Framework Programme.

Teaching:

Since starting my PhD I have also been given the opportunity to teach on a number of Undergraduate modules at the University of Kent as a seminar leader:

SO602: Methods of Social Research (2008 – Present)
SA300: Social Problems and Social Policy: Youth, the family and the state (September 2008 – January 2009).
SO305: Introduction to Criminology (January 2009 – May 2008)
SO653: Sociology of Disaster (September 2007 – January 2008)
